Golf holidays in Portugal are synonymous with picturesque countryside, year round warm weather and no end to choice of courses to play. This post focuses on everything that the Algarve has to offer the holidaying golfer.
In terms of finding the perfect golf holiday Algarve, in the south of Portugal, has been attracting European golfers for decades. The eastern Algarve region bordering Spain has mild weather all year round so proves popular even in winter. The Monte Rei golf resort is the jewel of the area with its perfect landscaping and design (by Jack Nicklaus).
Other courses such as the Benamor and Castro Marim are enjoyable to play for their great views (especially from the higher tee-boxes). The Quinta Do Vale is a young course (2008) that is starting to mature nicely. Designed by Seve Balasteros the course has some tough long par-4s and the placement of traps/rough will punish errant shots.
Western Algarve is defined by the prevailing ocean breezes that can really alter how any of the coastal courses play. The Oceanico O’Connor parkland course and its sister course (the Faldo desert-style course) were each designed to make use of the ocean breeze, as well as the locations topography. The Nick Faldo course has a wonderful mix of undulating fairways, dunes and rolling greens. The nearby Parque Da Floresta is a great hillside course with challenging holes playing across the slopes that is made all the more difficult when the wind is gusting (low trajectory ball flight becomes a necessity).
The central Algarve area around Vilamoura is the real hub for golfing in the region with its glut of golf resorts and courses all within a short car drive. While the 10+ Oceanico courses are all very enjoyable, the real standout course has got to be the Old Course for its mature landscaping and consistently fast greens. Years of careful management have made each hole a challenge and every vista picture perfect.
The locals will also recommend playing Quinta do Lago Laranjal and Vila Sol which perfectly suit amateur golfers. And for a real challenge then follow in the footsteps of the professionals with a round at Vale Do Lobo Royal, host on several occasions to the Portugal Open.
Staying in Doolin hotels, guest houses or bed and breakfasts is a great way to enjoy the laid-back atmosphere, great food and picturesque scenery around this harbor town in the west of Ireland. The following list comprises some of the best hotels that are well regarded for their facilities, great views and central locations.
The first 3-star hotel in the village was the Aran View House Hotel perched on the coast road overlooking the sea. The hotel only has 19 rooms so has a very cozy feel about it. The unimpeded views out to the Aran Islands gave the hotel its name and most rooms have excellent sea/countryside views.
The family, double and twin rooms are spacious and airy with modern facilities throughout. Of special note is the hotel restaurant and bar. The restaurant has a great menu of traditional Irish cuisine that makes the most of locally sourced produced. The bar also serves wholesome pub fair throughout the day and provides, in the high season, musical entertainment with traditional Irish music sessions.
Staying in the village, the Ballyvara 4 star guest house has a great location within a short walk of the village and harbor. Each guest room is uniquely designed with contemporary amenities such as satellite TV, marble en-suites and even Jacuzzi baths.
For those traveling in a group there is also the option of family rooms with their own balconies and 2 self catering studio apartments. The studio apartments have the extra flexibility of having their own kitchen and dining area in an open plan designed apartment.
Finally, Tir Gan Ean is a 4 star hotel and probably the most modern in the area. Each of the hotels 12 guest rooms have all the latest gadgetry (plasma television, under floor heating, power showers) and upper floor rooms also have lift access. The delicious breakfast buffet has something to suit just about any palate.
Any trip to Doolin Ireland will be perfectly complemented by a relaxing stay at one of the above hotels and would form the ideal base for exploring the surrounding County Clare countryside.
It is always interesting when it comes to people taking trips on how did they come to make that decision. A lot of people just make the same trip plans year after year. Partly because they know what to expect and partly because they of course enjoy the activities they know will be there waiting for them when they arrive. Is this how you usually make your trip plans?
Planning A Satisfying Vacation
Most good things usually are the result of planning that has taken place behind the scenes and before the event in question. Traveling is no different in that respect. If you make a conscious effort to list all of the activities you will want to do before you make a vacation destination decision you may discover that it frees you to choose a number of other destinations that may provide the same activities and even more. In fact just being able to ponder other destinations outside of what you are normally acquainted with can lead to some ideas that you may never had considered before. And by having more then just one or two places that can satisfy the activities you want to participate in it should be easier to find travel deals as well.

Since we feel that most people purchasing a timeshare don’t take the time to develop a checklist we have taken the liberties of developing our own. Buy taking some of these questions into account you can ensure you don’t miss any important issues when considering the purchase of a timeshare.
At the very least if you are purchasing a timeshare through a broker make sure he is a licensed one. You may also want to find out their experience in timeshare purchases. And of course ask them any and all questions regarding your potential timeshare. Here is the list of questions/criteria we would suggest you look at:
Q1) What is the current resort maintenance fee? Does it rise every year? If so what is the anticipated rise
Q2) Under normal circumstances how hard is it to get a timeshare booked in a desired week?
Q3) What are the timeframes associated with making reservations? How much advance notice has to be given for best chances?
Q4) Are there any extra amenities or benefits that would come with your purchase? Or could be available?
Q5) Does the company that administers the timeshare program have a bonus week system in place?
Q6) Is it possible for you to trade or exchange your timeshare without becoming a member of an exchange company?
I am disillusioned and have no idea what to do with my life, but my two passions in life are writing and travel. I purpose, if I can save up the money, to travel to every single place in Patricia Schultz’s book “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” while writing a blog or a book while doing it. I thought if I do it I’ll call it… “The 1,000 places I visited before I died”. What do you think?
1. Bermuda Luxury Beach Resort. This great vacation destination is located just 2 hours from New York City. This is even more true if you live on the East Coast because of the close proximity. We like the Ariel Sands resort. if offers gourmet food with 47 guest rooms and breathtaking views.

There you will find an excellent golf course and a host of amazing water park activities. These include slides, water rides and other water attractions. of course this place is very family friendly.

Once there besides the lovely beaches, perfect weather you can also enjoy: fishing, tennis, sailing, volleyball, snorkeling, scuba diving and of course the glass bottom boat tour.

I am really overwhelmed! Ideally our budget is really only about $2,ooo per person airfare, hotel, and food, and I DON’T want to take a cruise! lol.. Am I crazy, or is this doable? My wife & I need ideas on where to go and what to do to learn about the history of the 13 colonies. We would arrive on a Friday and leave Monday. We own a flooring store (for over 20 years) and enjoy learning about architecture history and how people lived in the past

For those of us that grew up with the Internet as a mainstay of our daily life it can be amazing that anything got done before it. This also applies to how we travelled before the Internet got here. In the past that meant actually calling a travel agent and totally relying on there skill or lack thereof to book a trip. It would be hit or miss in terms of making sure you were at the right travel agency at the right time.
That is how it used to be. With the advent of the Internet the power to plan your own trip has given the power back to the individual. Of course with that responsibility also comes the consequences of not planning properly. That means that a person not well versed in travel planning may not put together the needed options or may miss some that are essential or near essential. This is not usually a problem since many of the online travel sites will usually give you the proper and needed options to make your trip experience a good one.

I’ve been married for about a year, and my wife doesn’t like to travel nearly as much as I do. She likes to travel every 1-2 months. If I had my way, I’d be traveling every week or two. Anyway, I’m thinking about doing some traveling on my own.
Does anyone have any suggestions for some great places to go when you’re flying solo?
I love traveling but it’s so difficult for me to find a travel companion. I’m currently in graduate school so I have time during spring break and summer to travel but my friends have other responsibilities and aren’t able to come with me.
Any ideas for safe solo trip (international) or an escorted tour group that caters to solo travelers?
Thanks
